Addendum

I just watched Carrie Underwood sing alongside Randy Travis. Remember when Aerosmith teamed up with Run-DMC? That worked. Two completely divergent genres, mashed together to form something unheard of.

This was not the case here. It hurt me. It physically hurt me. Randy Travis is a true country music god. Carrie Underwood is pop. Pop and nothing but pop. I don't care if she sings He Stopped Loving Her Today, she will still be pop. There is nothing wrong with that but why she has to butt rape one of the best country songs in recent history, I just don't understand.

Another Carrie Underwood Cover

I love Randy Travis. I mean this guy is pretty much as country as it gets, and his voice is just... well, nobody ever sounded like him before and nobody will ever sound like him again.

I was taken aback when I heard a cover of "I Told You So" on the country station here in LA. They would nevvvvvvverrrrr play Randy's version. It was very surprising to hear that song at all, and pretty much shocking to hear Carrie Underwood singing it!

My verdict? She's an incredible singer. It's an incredible song. She sings it well. But why - WHY? - did they have to suck the country right out of it? Steel guitars are GONE. That was the essence of the song!! I just cannot understand why the music on the radio HAS to be dictated by 17 year old girls.

Saturday Night Live

Taylor Swift was the musical guest. I was dreading it. She did not suck. Can you believe I just said that?!

She dressed and acted like a 17-year-old girl. Yeah!!! She sang okay. Not good, but not terrible.

It still isn't country music. But I will give credit where it's due!
